You open your eyes and assess your surroundings. The air is thick with an otherworldly energy that makes your skin tingle. Your head throbs with a dull ache, and you can't remember how you got here. The last thing you recall is walking home from work, but now you're somewhere completely different—somewhere wrong.

You examine the area carefully.

The abandoned subway station stretches before you, dimly lit by flickering emergency lights that cast long, dancing shadows across the cracked tiles. Water drips from the ceiling in a steady, rhythmic pattern, creating an eerie soundtrack to your confusion. Graffiti covers the walls—some of it looks normal, but other markings seem to shift and writhe when you're not looking directly at them.

In the distance, you hear something moving—something large. The sound echoes through the tunnels, making it impossible to pinpoint its exact location. Your heart begins to race as you realize you're not alone.

What will you do?

You move forward cautiously, keeping to the shadows and testing each step before putting your full weight down.

As you advance deeper into the station, the sound grows louder and more distinct. It's a scraping, dragging noise, like something heavy being pulled across concrete. The air grows colder, and you notice your breath is now visible despite the humidity.

Rounding a corner, you come face-to-face with a massive creature—a mutated rat the size of a small car. Its fur is matted and patchy, revealing raw, pulsating flesh beneath. Its eyes glow with an unnatural red light, and when it opens its mouth, you see rows of jagged, yellowed teeth. The creature hasn't noticed you yet, but it's blocking the only path forward.

Combat begins!

You continue exploring, your confidence growing with each step.

With the creature defeated, you search the area more thoroughly. Behind a collapsed ticket booth, you find a first aid kit that's surprisingly well-stocked. You use it to patch up your minor scrapes, and your health improves. The kit also contains a few energy bars and a bottle of water, which you gratefully consume.

As you're gathering supplies, you notice something strange: the walls seem to be... breathing. Not literally, but there's a subtle pulsing rhythm to the shadows that wasn't there before. You shake your head, attributing it to stress and exhaustion, but a part of you knows this place is changing you—or perhaps you're finally seeing it for what it truly is.

You reflect on what just happened...

This isn't the first time you've had to fight for survival, but it's the first time the stakes felt so real. The creature's death weighs on you, but so does the realization that you're capable of more than you thought. Your hands are steady now, and your mind is clear. You're adapting to this new reality faster than you expected.

A notification appears in your mind's eye—not a physical screen, but a knowing that settles into your consciousness: "Combat Skill Improved: +1 to Strength"

You press onward, determined to find answers.

The tunnel ahead splits into three paths. The left path is completely dark, with no emergency lights. The middle path has flickering lights and what sounds like distant voices. The right path is well-lit but has warning signs posted—signs that seem to have been written in a language you don't recognize, yet somehow understand: "Danger. Do not proceed."

Which path will you take?

You choose the middle path, reasoning that voices might mean other people—or at least something that can be reasoned with.

As you walk, the voices grow clearer. They're speaking in hushed, urgent tones, and you catch fragments of conversation: "...the ritual must be completed before the convergence..." "...the old ones are stirring..." "...we need more sacrifices..."

You slow your approach, moving as quietly as possible. Peering around a corner, you see three figures in dark robes standing around what appears to be an altar. Strange symbols are carved into the floor, glowing with an eerie blue light. This is clearly not a rescue party.

One of the figures turns, and you catch a glimpse of their face—or rather, the lack of one. Where eyes should be, there are only swirling voids of darkness. You back away slowly, but your foot catches on a loose tile. The sound echoes through the tunnel.

All three figures turn toward you. What do you do?
